A Scholarship in Your Name

Global Compassionate Citizens
How are you affecting your community?

We are very excited to learn about our ProWorld community and how our Alumni have become Global Compassionate Citizens. How are you making the world grow? How would you synthesize your experiences into a "personal life motto"?

ProWorld is offering an amazing opportunity for our Alumni to share their story.

What is it??

We would like to hear from our ProWorld Alumni!! In a 500 word description, share with us how ProWorld affected you and your push towards being a Global Compassionate Citizen. Title your paper with your one to two sentence "personal life motto".

What happens after that??
We want to honor our alumni, their hard work, and how amazing you all are! After choosing our Global Compassionate Citizen -- we would like to offer a scholarship, in that individual's name, to a current student from their Alma Mater. Better yet, this Global Compassionate Citizen will have the opportunity to help choose the scholarship recipient and how well that applicant holds true to their personal life motto.

How do I get involved?
Just send us your 500 word description to info@myproworld.org and we will announce the recipient by August 2008. Once you are notified we will start a scholarship campaign at your Alma Mater as well as the selection process of the recipient to receive a scholarship in your honor!

NYU & Alumni - Joining Together to Make a Difference

Becky Heritage, a ProPeru alumni, is returning this January '08 to work her passion as an appointed Health project coordinator for the NYU Steinhardt and Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars Group. A total of 147 scholars and 20 ProPeru staff, like Becky, are putting all of their efforts into a ten-day intensive organized group project that will:

* build a total of 3 new bathrooms
* Install 300 new clean burning stoves in local homes
* plant 900 - 1,200 trees in the local area
* provide 2 intensive public health awareness campaigns

This effort will reach three Andean Villages located just outside of Urubamba, Peru in the Sacred Valley and Cusco, Peru. " I am looking forward to returning to the ProPeru team in January 2008 to facilitate coordination of the activities with volunteers from New York University. I am particularly excited about working within specific communities to implement more comprehensive health campaigns," Miss Heritage.

-- Check the Blog to see how their efforts came to a close at the end of January 2008 --

How do Alumni get involved in a project like this? -- We always welcome alumni who are dedicated and adventuresome to return as part-time or full-time staffers.

Email us at: info@myproworld.org and check the blog regularly for Featured positions specifically for Alumni!

Becky Heritage worked as a ProPeru NGO summer health volunteer (2006) and volunteered at Prodifam, a women’s health and family planning clinic, and at MINSA’s medical clinic in Belenpampa, Cusco. The dynamic experiences that ProPeru has given her have ultimately influenced her career goal of becoming of physician assistant specializing in under served communities in developing countries.
